Remote Sign Language Service Started

Kurume City started an off-site sign language interpretation service using smartphones and other devices. Interpreters work from the city office video-chat with users while they are at hospitals or other places where interpretation is needed. The system supports those who face coronavirus-induced hardship to bring personal interpreters to such places. Sixteen other cities, towns, and villages are also developing similar programs thanks to the support program by Fukuoka Prefecture. Source: NHK / Kurume City
