CBRE, a real estate company in Tokyo, released a report including projections for the hotel industry in Japan after the Olympic Games 2020. It anticipates excess supply of accommodations in the nation’s nine important regions, including Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka City. An additional 80,000 rooms are expected to become available to international guests in those areas in the next three years. In Fukuoka City, a surplus of approximately 1,000 rooms is predicted for around 2021. While the company had predicted a lack of hotel rooms for 2020 in its report released in 2018, a continuous wave of hotel developments changed prospects. Source: CBRE Japan, 6/10/2019
