Results of Yatai Inspection Posted

The Fukuoka government has posted the results of an inspection covering 121 yatai in 12 areas of Fukuoka City in September and October. Twenty-two official regulations including operating hours, price display, waste disposal, availability of washing facilities and hygienic management of tools were included in the inspection.The average score was 126.5 out of 200. The Tenjin-higashi area ranked highest with 138 out of 200. The Nagahama area and Suzaki area scored under 100. Scores were particularly low regarding availability of washing facilities, operating hours, waste disposal, and size regulations. Fukuoka City plans to initiate new regulations for yatai next year. Yatai licenses may be revoked if the proprietors do not adhere to the regulations. Only area names and average scores were posted on the City’s website this time and not individual yatai names.
