SAF Fuel Used on Flight to Fukuoka

The first scheduled domestic flight using commercially produced low carbon dioxide emission aviation fuel (SAF) took place on a flight between Tokyo and Fukuoka on November 14. The SAF used on some of the All Nippon Airways flights from Haneda to Fukuoka was made from waste cooking oil, animal and vegetable fats, and other materials and was produced by a Finland-based company. It is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 90% compared to conventional fuel, but it is three to five times more expensive than conventional fuel. ANA aims to replace more than 10 percent of its fuel consumption with SAF by 2030. During his visit to ASEAN, SAF will be used for the first time in the government aircraft that Prime Minister Kishida will fly on. Source: ANA / KBC
