The first harvest of ‘Kami Banana’ (God Bananas) in Miyaki Town, Saga, took place on May 27. The town has been working to develop a new specialty fruit, in collaboration with a Kagoshima-based company. Amongst approximately 400 banana trees, some grew to as high as three-meters inside a special hothouse. The organic bananas with edible peels will be partially processed for use in making beer and ice cream. Source: NHK
