Saga Prefecture Encourages Sidewalk Dining

Saga Prefecture has launched an initiative to create a new dining-out style that minimizes the risks of spreading the new coronavirus. A social trial named ‘Saga Night Terrace Challenge’ began on May 22 in the central area of Saga City. Tables are set up on the pedestrian walks and empty spaces in front of twelve restaurants while securing safe distances. Participating restaurants and bars expect the return of their customers, which remains low even since the lifting of local business closure requests. The test will continue until June 6, while feedback is gathered online from customers. Sources: Saga Shimbun / Asahi
