Starting in August, Saga Prefecture will solicit private-sector companies to place paid advertising on the screens of the PCs prefectural employees use at work. About 4,500 computers may wind up with advertising on their screens as a result. The prefecture expects to gain about 800,000 yen in revenue annually from the ads. Shiga Prefecture is already selling ad space on its computers, but Saga Prefecture will be the first in Kyushu to do it.
