Saga Prefecture to Boost Nuclear Fuel Tax


Saga Prefecture announced it will raise the fuel tax rate on Kyushu Electric’s nuclear power plant in Genkai-cho starting in FY 2009 for a five-year period. The current tax rate is 10%, and the tax will be increased to 13%. This is expected to result in an aggregate tax revenue of 14.3 billion yen over the five years for the prefecture.
