The only think tank in Saga Prefecture, the Saga Economic Survey Association, announced it will disband next month. The association said that the number of requests for surveys has dropped to one-fifth those of its peak period. There are two reasons for this. First, the spread of the Internet has enabled groups to conduct their own surveys. Second, municipal mergers have reduced the number of local governments, which are one of their primary customers. The association was launched in June 1981.
