Kyushu Electric Power released results of its electric power sales for the month of January, showing that demand from large industrial customers plummeted, resulting in a 15.4% year-on-year drop in sales. This was attributed to production declines in the auto and electric machinery industries, caused by the economic downturn. It was the largest such decline in the utility’s history.
