Search for Missing Cat in Fukuoka Subway Continues

The search for a pet cat who went missing in the city subway tunnels continues. At around 21:00 on May 4, Akihiro Yamane, a 19-year student at Fukuoka University, was waiting on the platform in Tenjin Station with his cat, Shiratama, in a basket. The basket broke when it was jostled by another subway user, and the startled Shiratama leapt out, wriggled under the platform screen door and ran away down the subway tracks towards Nakasu. Mr. Yamane posted a photo of his missing cat on Twitter, and in no time, 20,000 users had re-tweeted the message. Station personnel in Tenjin have been searching for the cat since the last train on 5/4 and installed four traps containing cat food on 5/8, after receiving several e-mails from concerned citizens. “I just want my cat to come home soon, “ said Yamane.
