Seinan Gakuin University announced that an error was discovered in a mathematics question on its 2026 general entrance examination conducted on February 7. The problem asked students to prove a formula, but two referenced equations contained mistakes, making a correct proof impossible. The issue was identified on February 12 during a review before grading began. The university decided to award full marks for the five-point question to all 499 applicants who took the mathematics exam. University President Naoki Imai apologized to examinees and related parties, stating that although multiple checks were conducted during preparation, oversight occurred and review procedures will be strengthened to prevent a recurrence.
