Sendai Nuke Plant Set for Full Restart

Japan’s Nuclear Regulation Authority began its final inspection of Kyushu Electric Power’s No. 1 reactor at the Sendai Nuclear Power Plant in Kagoshima Prefecture (Output: 890,000 kW). If the inspection goes off without a hitch, the power company will receive green light to officially resume commercial operations. Although the reactor is already producing and transmitting power, it is doing so on a temporary basis. On Aug. 11 Sendai’s No. 1 reactor was the first reactor to go back online since the new regulations were drawn up after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear incident. Sendai’s restart marked the the first time in two years that a nuclear power plant was operational in Japan. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun 9/9
