The 29 Kyushu-based shinkin banks released their financial figures for the fiscal year ended March 2008 on the 25th, which showed that seven suffered a net loss for the year. This is an increase by two from the previous year. The primary factors cited for these losses were the decline in loans to local small businesses and microenterprises, their primary customers, and an increase in the amount of non-performing debt that required disposition.
