JR Kyushu’s luxurious sleeper train Seven Stars has resumed operations on a slightly altered route. Bridges and sections of the Kyudai Main Line in Hita City, Oita Prefecture were badly damaged by the torrential rain that fell in northern Kyushu in July. The change to the current route means that the train is currently not stopping at Oita and Yufuin, but instead passing through Mojiko (Kitakyushu) on the Nippo Main Line before reaching Beppu, Oita Prefecture. Some sections of the route that runs through Kagoshima and Kumamoto Prefecture have also also been altered.
