A Fukuoka City based company monitoring conditions in the housing industry reports that the number of new condominiums coming on the market in the seven Kyushu prefectures from January to June totaled 4,178 units, a 35% decline from the year-before period. Condominium sales fell 12.4% in the same period to 5,001 units. The decline in new units was attributed to the higher costs of construction materials and the increasing difficulty in procuring funds for construction from financial institutions.
