Shift in School Trips to Kyushu

Since the Tohoku disaster last year, public junior high schools in the Kinki region have been shifting the destinations of their school trips from the Kanto area to Kyushu. The information was revealed in a report by the Kyushu Economic Research Center, which studied the data over the past year. Of the 986 public junior high schools in the six prefectures of the Kinki region, 306, or about one-third, changed the destination of their trips to regions other than those affected by the disaster. The destination for 201 of those schools, or about 20% of the total, was Kyushu.
