4-Year-Old Boy Dies After Shikanoshima Drowning Incident in Fukuoka

A 4-year-old boy who had been in critical condition after a drowning incident in Shikanoshima, Fukuoka City in July has passed away. On July 30, three people, including two children, were swept offshore at a beach in Shikanoshima, Higashi Ward. All were rescued, but Teruya Inoue, a 4-year-old boy from Nishi Ward, was left in critical condition. Despite receiving treatment in the ICU, his death was confirmed at noon on September 9. The incident occurred when a group of nine adults and five children were swimming at the beach. Two children, including Inoue, were swept away by strong winds while using flotation devices.
