On September 24, JR Kyushu announced that shinkansen (bullet train) service between Takeo-onsen and Nagasaki would start in the fall of 2022. Development of the route has involved difficult challenges due to railway companies and regional governments’ opposing concepts, resulting in a standoff on plans to connect to Shin-tosu Station. Even so, the company and related governments expect that the news would bring stimulation for the local economies. Source: Nikkei / NHK / Saga TV
