Shochu Distillery To Use Sweet Potato-powered EV

The Kagoshima-based major shochu distillery, Kirishima Shuzo Co., Ltd., aims to reduce CO2 emission to zero by the fiscal year of 2030. To step up efforts to utilize biogas produced from sweet potato lees and sludge, the company will gradually replace 30 gasoline-fueled cars with electric vehicles. The sweet-potato-powered EV will be named ‘e-imo’ and provide electricity in case of disasters, too. Source: Kirishima Shuzo / Yomiuri
