Sightseeing Train to Operate Along Hitahikosan Line this December

JR Kyushu announced on Nov. 24 that they will operate a special sightseeing trip called “Let’s Take a Ride on the A Train.” The train journey will take place on Dec. 21, featuring an onboard bar. The four-hour round trip from Kokura (Kitakyushu City) to Soeda (Soeda-machi, Fukuoka Prefecture) will see the vehicle run along the Hitahikosan Line, parts of which have been suspended due to the torrential downpours that hit northern Kyushu earlier this year. The tour is open to 80 participants and aims to support reconstruction efforts in some of the worst affected areas. Dishes served during the train journey will be prepared using locally sourced ingredients. There will also be tourist officials on hand to help point out some of the charming features that are dotted along the train line. Tickets will cost ¥9,800 (per adult) and will be available for reservations until Dec. 8. (092-474-8129 JR Kyushu Travel) Source: Mainichi Shimbun, 11/25/2017
