Overnight stays at hotels and ryokan in Kitakyushu City are currently available at substantial discounts. The city launched a campaign on July 1 to promote the use of local accommodation facilities to battle the negative impact of the spread of the new coronavirus. Stays at 60 facilities, including Rihga Royal Hotel Kokura (ordinarily available for about ¥14,000/ night per person), are available for ¥1,000 ~ ¥3,000. The discounts will be applied for approximately 65,000 stays until the end of September. The project aims to encourage hotel stays by tourists and residents alike.
