The National Institute of Population and Social Security Research released projections that suggest that in four Kyushu prefectures, 30% of all households will be accounted for by single people or married couples without children by 2030. Those prefectures are Nagasaki, Oita, Miyazaki, and Kagoshima. They project the national average at that time to be 26.3%. Kagoshima’s percentage is estimated to be 34.1%, the highest in the country.
