Six New Cases Reported in Kitakyushu including one High School Student

Fukuoka Prefecture is preparing a revised budget the current fiscal year. The new budget of ¥21.4 billion includes support for households (¥17 billion) and funding for the development of medical environments (¥1.7 billion) related to the impact of the spread of COVID-19. The budget will be formally proposed at the June assembly. On May 24, six additional confirmed cases of the new coronavirus infection were recorded in Fukuoka Prefecture, bringing the cumulative total to 672. All of the new cases involve residents of Kitakyushu, including five with unknown transmission routes. Among them was a high school student, who was reportedly absent from school after developing some symptoms on May 11. On the same day, the prefecture announced the retraction of the cause of a reported death on May 23, reflecting uncertainty over the correlation between the virus. The cumulative total of corona-linked deaths for the prefecture is 25.  Sources: Fukuoka Prefecture / NHK / KBC
