Skateboard Park Opens Next to Boat Race Fukuoka

A large-scale indoor skateboard park, one of the largest in Japan, is set to open next October next to Boat Race Fukuoka in Fukuoka City.

At a press conference, Mayor Takashima stated that the project addresses the need for safe recreational spaces, noting previous concerns about safety and noise related to skateboarding.

The 9,000-square-meter site, located in the Nanotsu area of Fukuoka’s Chuo Ward, includes the existing parking lot of Boat Race Fukuoka. In addition to the skateboarding facility, the development will feature a plaza with inclusive playground equipment, dining establishments, and shops specializing in sports-related goods.

The skateboard facility itself spans approximately 3,000 square meters and includes areas designed for “Street” and “Park” styles, both recognized as Olympic events. It will be capable of hosting international competitions. Source: Fukuoka City
