An alarm was raised not for a blaze but for blazing up, as a 22-year-old firefighter Jun Gohara from the Yanagawa City Fire Department in Fukuoka Prefecture got into hot water. He was arrested for making his living room a little too smoky with some dried cannabis.
The police, with a nose better than a hound, sniffed out some information and found more than they bargained for in Gohara’s apartment: a stash of dried cannabis, a grinder, and rolling paper. Gohara came clean during the interrogation, admitting he was keeping the stash for personal use.
In response, the Yanagawa City Fire Department sparked an emergency press conference where Fire Chief Toshihiko Matsufuji extinguished the public’s flaming concerns. He was truly sorry and promised they weren’t just blowing smoke when it came to disciplining their own. Gohara, the guy who usually extinguishes flames, was ironically on fire for all the wrong reasons this time. Source: NHK
