The SoftBank Hawks are planning to renovate sections of the Fukuoka Yahuoku! Dome. The home stadium of the reigning Japan Series champions currently has a capacity of 38,585. Attendance rates for 2017 were over 90% with the dome welcoming over 2.5 million baseball fans last season. Proposals were put forward to develop an extra 2,000 to 3,000 seats by 2020. This would allow the annual attendance to rise to approximately 3 million, which would be a first for a Pacific League team.
