SB Engineering, a subsidiary of SoftBank, has launched a research lab in Nagasaki dedicated to smart city technology. The “Tech for Sight Lab” will focus on creating and testing communication and management systems essential for running smart cities. Located within the new Nagasaki Stadium City, the lab will use the area’s mix of office workers, shoppers, and sports spectators to test new technologies, such as large-scale connectivity, enhanced security systems, and flexible network configurations. The company plans to hire 18 local employees over the next five years and aims to apply the technology developed in Nagasaki to other cities nationwide. Source: SB Engineering
