Star Flyer Reports First Profit in Three Years

Kitakyushu-based airline, Star Flyer, announced its non-consolidated financial results for the April-December period. The company recorded a loss of JPY 800 million, a significant improvement from the previous year’s loss of JPY 3 billion. The recovery in passenger demand and the appreciation of the yen led to a decrease in aircraft maintenance costs. Star Flyer’s cumulative sales increased by 52% YoY to JPY 23.3 billion. Despite the ongoing challenges posed by the pandemic, the airline is confident in its ability to provide unique services. The airline’s operating income for the October-December period saw a profit of JPY 1.3 billion due to a recovery in demand for its Kitakyushu-Haneda route and other services, as well as cost reductions. This marks the first quarterly operating profitability since 2019. Source: Star Flyer / Nikkei
