StarFlyer Submits Safety Reform Plan

Kitakyushu-based airline StarFlyer submitted a report to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism on June 9 detailing measures to prevent a recurrence of safety compliance failures. The carrier received a formal administrative warning last month after failing to promptly address expired replacement deadlines for infant life jackets and related issues. In the report, the company acknowledged shortcomings in safety awareness and suggested that an organizational culture may have prioritized operational concerns over proper reporting. Proposed measures include creating two new teams to oversee maintenance regulation updates, formalizing multiple reporting channels for irregular incidents, and holding monthly meetings to improve information sharing. President Osamu Machida pledged stronger compliance efforts and apologized for the incident. Source: NHK News / Nishinippon Shimbun
