Fukuoka Tobata Police Station sent the papers to Public Prosecutor’s Office in Kokura-ku on 8/12 (Tue.) regarding the sale of cigarettes to underaged students at a convenience store in Tobata-ku, Kitakyushu City. It is alleged that the female store manager (70) and her male employee (47) have knowingly sold cigarettes to underaged students in school uniforms for some time – even becoming well known amongst students in the area as an easy place to buy. Police confirmed these suspicions, witnessing the staff members selling a box of cigarettes to a 17 year-old male high school student. The boy was searched by the police, who discovered the box on his person. When questioned, the store manager confessed to selling cigarettes to underaged students. The student’s mother is also under investigation, for negligence to stop her son from smoking. Source: http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/national/20140812-OYT1T50177.html / Nishinippon Shimbun
