Touchless payment with credit cards will become a new option for passengers using Fukuoka City Subway. The city and Sumitomo Mitsui Card Company recently began Japan’s first trial to save users the trouble of repeatedly loading money to their Suica, Nimoca, Pasmo, and other IC cards. Special electric gates for Visa touchless payments have been introduced at seven stations between Fukuoka Airport and Tenjin. The project will run until the end of Feb. 2023.
