Sugoca Card a Success

The Sugoca contactless payment card launched in March by JR Kyushu and the Fukuoka City Transportation Bureau has been an immediate success, as more than 100,000 have been issued as of the first week of April. This far exceeds the total anticipated by that time. The companies had established a target of 330,000 cards for the full year, but the current rate of use far exceeds that pace. A JR spokesman said the cards have already been used at 125 stations, including those without personnel on duty.
