SUGOCA Expanded to Additional 19 Stations in Kyushu

JR Kyushu has decided to expand the area of use of the “SUGOCA” IC card, which can be used to pay fares. In response to requests from Saga and Nagasaki prefectures to expand the area where the “SUGOCA” IC card can be used, JR Kyushu has announced that the card will be usable at 19 additional stations from next fiscal year. The SUGOCA system will soon be available at about half of JR Kyushu’s stations. Governor Oishi of Nagasaki Prefecture also commented, “The opening of the Western Kyushu Shinkansen will further enhance the effect of the new line, as it is expected to facilitate the smooth movement of travelers.” Source: JR Kyushu / NHK
