Summary of Rain Damages in Fukuoka Prefecture

The continuing heavy rain has caused damage throughout Fukuoka Prefecture. As of 9 a.m. on Aug. 17, the prefecture reported two injuries, 3,432 damaged houses, floods, and landslides. Most residential flooding occurred in Kurume City, which suffered torrential rainfall for the fourth consecutive year. The region also suffered severe agricultural damage, including damage to crops about to be harvested. As of Aug. 16, Fukuoka Prefecture had begun offering free housing for those whose homes have become uninhabitable. Consultations are provided 08:00~17:15 on weekdays at 092-643-3739. Authorities warn residents to stay alert for more severe rainfall and possible landslides in the coming days.
