The Kyushu Economic Research Center conducted a survey of job-hunting students in Kyushu and found that the students would want 50,000 additional yen in starting salary per month to take a job in the Tokyo area rather than Kyushu. That 50,000 yen total is roughly double the difference in starting salaries between those in the seven Kyushu prefectures and those in the Tokyo area. The survey was conducted in June and July among 440 students at universities and occupational schools in Fukuoka City and Kumamoto City.
