Top sushi chefs from conveyor-belt sushi restaurants across Japan gathered in Kitakyushu for the 11th annual championship organized by the Japan Kaiten Sushi Association. Organizers said the tournament highlighted the skills required in the industry while promoting sushi culture to a wider audience. Ryota Akamatsu of Iwate Prefecture won the overall title.
