A weakened wild bird found in Fukuoka City tested positive for suspected bird flu, potentially marking the first case in the prefecture this season. The bird, a dunlin, was later found dead. The Fukuoka Prefectural government is awaiting genetic test results to confirm high-pathogenic bird flu. In response, the Ministry of the Environment has designated a special surveillance area in parts of Fukuoka City and Itoshima City. The prefecture is also intensifying monitoring of wild birds and urging poultry farms to implement stringent biosecurity measures. Source: Fukuoka Prefecture / NHK
