Taira district of Unzen City aims to become a cyclist-friendly town, taking advantage of its proximity to Kumamoto Prefecture and areas along the Shimabara Train railway. 1.83-meter-wide bicycle racks and backgrounds for taking photos have been installed around the district. Also, aiming to integrate local charms with cycle tourism, a unique tour to gather sukiyaki ingredients on bicycles will be tested on Oct. 6. Source: Mainichi / NHK
