Taiwan to Establish Trade and Investment Center in Fukuoka

Taiwan’s Minister of Economic Affairs, J.W. Kuo, announced plans to establish a “Taiwan Trade and Investment Center” in Fukuoka. The decision follows the expansion of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) in Kumamoto and aims to support Taiwanese businesses entering Kyushu while strengthening industrial cooperation with Japan.

Details and an official launch date have yet to be disclosed, with further coordination required with Japanese authorities. The center will operate separately from the Taiwan Trade Center, which already has an office in Fukuoka.

A Kyushu delegation, including governors and economic representatives, met with Taiwanese officials in Taipei on February 11. Discussions focused on deepening collaboration, particularly in the semiconductor sector. The visit also included a tour of Taiwan’s Hsinchu Science Park, known as the “Silicon Valley of Taiwan.” Source: Jiji News
