Taiwanese Tourist Killed by Train in Saga

A 55-year-old Taiwanese woman died after being struck by a JR Sasebo Line train while attempting to take photos near Sueyama Shrine in Arita Town, Saga Prefecture, on August 13. The accident occurred just before 12:30 p.m. at a railway crossing located directly in front of the shrine’s torii gate. Although an alarm was active, the crossing lacked a barrier. Witnesses believe the woman may have been focused on taking a picture and was facing the opposite direction from which the train approached. She was transported to a hospital but died approximately 90 minutes later. The accident halted train operations for about two and a half hours. Source: KBC
