Takeoff/Landing Cycles Decline by 7500 at Fukuoka Airport

Debate is continuing about ways to relieve congestion at the Fukuoka Airport, which is nearing capacity, but a preliminary report by the airport authorities reveals there was a decline of roughly 7,500 takeoff and landing cycles in 2008. Also, the number of passengers using the airport was down by about 60,000 during the year. This was the largest decline in the takeoff/landing cycle in the airport’s history. It was attributed to the airlines’ reduction of routes due to soaring gasoline prices and the worsening economy.
