Tamico To Build Chip Plant in Kumamoto

Tamico Kumamoto, a subsidiary of South Korea’s MiCo Group, will open its first Japanese plant in Tamana City, Kumamoto, by December 2026. The facility will handle precision cleaning for semiconductors and LCDs, and feature thermal spray coating equipment to enhance component durability. The investment, up to ¥3 billion, includes a 3,300 m2 two-story plant in the Tamana Mitsukawa Industrial Park. The move aligns with growing demand spurred by TSMC’s planned second plant in nearby Kikuyo Town. Tamico also aims to supply Japanese firms like Sony, citing Tamana’s support in workforce development as a key factor in its location decision. Source: RKK
