A Kyodo news agency questionnaire on prefectural tax revenues for business year 2008 shows that 40 prefectures nationwide will not have as much revenue from taxes as they anticipated when they formulated their budgets for the year. Six of these prefectures are Fukuoka, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Kagoshima, and Yamaguchi. Five of the six aren’t sure yet about the amount of the shortfall, but Fukuoka Prefecture expects it to be about 30 billion yen.
