According to a report by the Kyushu District Transport Bureau, the number of taxi passengers in Fukuoka Prefecture declined by 72% between April to mid-May, compared to the same period in 2019. The figure was based on data submitted by eight major taxi companies in Fukuoka, and revealed a more severe situation than that of other prefectures in Kyushu. The entire Kyushu experienced 65% less taxi passengers during the same period and an application-based taxi hailing service, DiDi, terminated its services in the prefectures of Nagasaki, Oita and Miyazaki as well as Ishigaki Island of Okinawa.
