Tenjin Lunch Passport – ¥500 Lunch

Fukuoka information publisher City Joho Fukuoka released a new coupon book “Lunch Passport Tenjin” which entitles “passport” holders to ¥500 lunch at 76 restaurants in Tenjin. The passport book costs ¥980, and coupons can be used up to three times at each restaurant before Feb. 19, 2014. The featured restaurants do not have to pay advertising fee to appear in the book, but must in turn agree to offer their lunch menu for ¥500; lunch menus at these restaurants usually range between ¥700~¥1,380. The concept started in Shikoku’s Kochi Prefecture in 2011 to rejuvenate the restaurant scene, and now 20 different locations in Japan have adopted the idea. The Fukuoka version has already had 20,000 copies printed, and is sold in bookstores and some convenience stores. Nagasaki will also launch the concept later this month.
