Thai Consulate to Open in Fukuoka

The government of Thailand will establish a consulate in Fukuoka Prefecture. The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Fukuoka Prefecture revealed that they were contacted by Thai officials about the proposal. Further details will be announced at a later date. The Royal Thai Consulate-General based in Osaka is the Thai consulate currently closest to Kyushu. Last year, Fukuoka Prefectural Governor Hiroshi Ogawa visited Thailand in order to raise the region’s profile.
