The Hip Marks the Spot for Multilingual Support

A unique illustration of a “hip” at Kazariyama float #5 (Higashi Nagare) marks the location of the multilingual support provided by students of Kyushu Sangyo University for the Yamakasa festival. The float is on display near the Gofukumachi Subway Station. The illustration depicts the iconic fundoshi costume of float-carrying men participating in the festival. The illustration titled “Hakata Beauty Hip” was created by one of the students at the university and won the Fukuoka Student Poster Competition in 2018. For those interested in the kazariyama decorative floats, Fukuoka Now has published a guide with explanations of each float’s theme and location here: https://www.fukuoka-now.com/en/yamakasa-kazariyama-guide/
