Three chief municipal officers of municipalities known for their hot spring resorts held a press conference at the Fukuoka City Hall to announce they will be working together on a campaign to promote their local spas. The mayors of Yufuin in Oita Prefecture (the site of the Yufuin resorts), Oguni-machi in Kumamoto Prefecture (the home of the Tsuetate hot springs), and Takeo in Saga Prefecture (the location of the Takeo hot springs) said they will use the public park at Fukuoka City Hall near the Tenjin shopping district for their activities. They hope to convey to the widest possible audience the benefits of a trip to the hot springs, which would boost tourism and help the Kyushu economy.
