JR Kyushu stated the restoration of railways damaged by recent torrential rain would require considerable time. According to the company, damage was reported at 345 locations as of July 13, which is three times larger than the number of incidents recorded during the northern Kyushu severe rainfall in 2017. Three rail bridges were swept away, and many other places would require large-scale constructions. JR Kyushu continues to find out the entire situation before it would decide how to deal with the matter. Sources: NHK / KBC
